I can't get contact photos to work in Outlook 2013. I do have the setting turned on for "Show user photographs when available." I have two problems:
I filed a "frown" for both of these, but does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks.
in the past Outlook releases there was a 'look up' feature.
if you're in an email and you right click a word, it'll open a menu with 'look up' features which by clicking it, you'll get the dictionary explanation of it.
in 2013 this feature is not there. you can just search the web. bummer.
what will replace it? or maybe I don't have the right install?

I downloaded Win 8 and office 2013 and I have the following problems ...
1) The send and receive does not work some times
2) The email search function does not work some times

OUTLOOK 2013 - Calendar entries (which have been added recently) do not show up in any calendar view except 'active' and 'Today'. When switch to day/week/month, the only items showing are recurring that were entered months ago.
When this happened in Outlook 2010, you changed the month and went back and the entries appeared. This does not happen in Office 365.
This is the only calendar I have. When I enter an appointment there is a selection that say 'Copy to My Calendar'. I have tried that and it just creates an identical entry that is still not visible in the calendar view.
This is driving me nuts - I use the calendar to plan my day.
However, the synch between Outlook and my Blackberry copies all the appointments I can't see in Outlook, but using the Blackberry for scheduling is cumbersome.
Any ideas?
I have the SharePoint Designer 2013 Preview installed on two different computers (one is using the SPD 32-bit install, the other 64-bit). Both crash every time I click on the "Open Site" button. I can't do too much else if I can't open a site! I have tried running the repair, which also crashes. One I re-installed and the crashes continue to occur.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated...
In Visio 2010 it was possible to display the column data type value in a database model diagram by following
You can also open the Types window in a database model diagram:
Although I can right click on a field in Visio 2013 Preview and choose 'Show Attribute Types' I don't know how to select a database driver which will enable me to actually change the data types. Everything is defaulting to an 'int' which I can't even change.
Visio 2013 doesn't even appear to have a Database tab now, just one called 'data'.
Thank you.

Hello,
On my Windows 8 machine I was using Office 2010. OneNote was synchronizing my notes with my skydrive.
Since I installed Office 2013 it is not working anymore. i can't access skydrive at all. Onenote 2013 has retained my settings, my 4 workbooks are shown as 'not connected', if I click on 'sync', I have this error 'We need the password to sync this notebook. (Error code: 0xE0000024)'. so I click cancel, go back to the workbook, click on the yellow bar 'Onenote needs a password to sync this notebook.', wait a few seconds and I got the message 'We are unable to connect right now. Please check your network and try again later.'
If I go to Open in the file menu and click on Open form SkyDrive... nothing.
If I click on my account in the upper right corner and try to switch account i got the error 'We are unable to connect right now. Please check your network and try again later.'
i have to say that I am behind a company proxy. I have tried both a proxy with authentication and without authentication it is always the same.
Is changing the proxy in the desktop version of IE enough ?
When I am at home with a direct internet connection, it is working without any problem.
Thanks in advance for your help
Marc.
Installed Office 365. In Excel, added the Bing Maps App. Click on Apps for Office and My Apps doesn't show. All I get is Featured and Office Store. Manage My Apps just brings me to the web.
How do I get the Apps I've added to show up in Excel? All help I can locate on the web states that when I click on the Insert tab, then click on Apps for Office, then click on My Apps. That's what's missing? And I'm sure I'm missing something simple.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hello,
I just upgraded from 2010 to Outlook 2013. Everything seems to work fine but I cannot download the mails to my computer automatically. I mean the option is gone:
For the others two account there is the change folder location. Is that a problema or is that normal behaviour for Exchange Accounts in Outlook 2013?
Thanks
I have Outlook 2013 Preview connecting to my Exchange 2010 system. I've tried both cached and non-cached mode, but the upshot it, I cannot see anything at all to click on to access or see Public Folders. is this by design or a bug?
Thanks,
Chad
Hello, I worked yesterday on a .docx file on Word 2013, which is supposed to synchronize with my Skydrive. I also have the Skydrive application on Windows 8.
I have the habit of doing Ctrl S really often, like all the 5 minutes, because it's a sensitive project file I'm working on. Today I just realize my file is at yesterday state and date, before all the work I've done in the evening.
I've found a lot of .FSD files in OfficeFileCache directory, and the modified/created time fits perfectly with the work I've lost.
How can I open those files to recover them ? Is that even possible ?
Sorry for my bad english.
When MS Office and other applications where introduced in the times of Windows 95 and Windows 98 the GUI design was logical and effective.
And now?
1) Menu titles all in CAPITALS - why?
2) NO distinct separation between menu, sidebar and content - everything seems to be just big flat area and you hardly can distinct, what is content and where the document area starts. Ok - this may also be a reason for the menu titles in CAPITALS, so you can still recognize them as menus :-( It is a bit better when you finally found the option to change the color scheme - but even the other color schemes are not really useful.
What is so bad about having the menu bar in separate style, so you can clearly recognize it?
3) Invisible scroll bars - why? This makes sense on devices with SMALL screens where you need every room you can get - but on a desktop system with a 1920*1200 monitor there is really plenty of room available and i don't need the scroll bars to hide as soon as i move the mouse outside the window. And it even get's worse: The scroll bars just dissapear - but the room used for them not used for content then. So in fact the "invisible" scrollbar just means that there is either a white room with no scrollbar or a scroll bar appears. This is vexing and not logical at all.
What is so bad with clear indicators to show you where you are in your document or list or table?
I understand, that everything now has to look "surface style" - but i really don't believe, that having a tablet touch GUI on the desktop is a good idea.
Design should first of all help USING a product and not just look nice. It seems, your designers love the new GUI because of the look but they nevery really thought about how people would USE the products.
Humans learn visually and handling things is much easier if there is enough distinction between different elements - that's the reason why typography developed certain common rules over the time and why links in websites are coloured AND underlined, so you can easily recognize them as links (and yes, some people are colour blind and it is really hard for them, if links are just blue but not underlined). The same is true for GUIS - if a menu does not really look like a menu and if the document background has nearly the same color as the surrounding elements, it is harder to use the software.
Hello All,
I have started using Outlook 2013. Previously I was using Office 2010.
In Outlook 2010, whenever there is a new email, I can see a bold notification on the folder. In outlook I see a number but its not so visible. Can I make it bold somehow ?
